MSME / Udyam Classification Checker

The MSME limits were raised 2.5x in Budget 2025 and many Bhiwadi units do not realise they now qualify, or have moved up a class. Enter two numbers and see where you stand and what it unlocks.

Based on the revised MSME definition (S.O. 1364(E), 21 March 2025, effective 1 April 2025). Investment means the written-down value of plant and machinery or equipment per your ITR. Indicative only; confirm specifics with your CA and the official Udyam portal.

MSME classification, FAQs

What are the MSME classification limits in 2025-26?

Under the revised definition effective 1 April 2025: Micro means investment up to Rs 2.5 crore and turnover up to Rs 10 crore; Small means investment up to Rs 25 crore and turnover up to Rs 100 crore; Medium means investment up to Rs 125 crore and turnover up to Rs 500 crore. Investment refers to plant and machinery or equipment, and exports are excluded from turnover.

What if my investment and turnover fall in different classes?

The criteria are composite: your enterprise is classified in the higher of the two bands. For example, Rs 2 crore investment (Micro band) with Rs 40 crore turnover (Small band) makes the enterprise Small, not Micro.

How do I register as an MSME?

Registration is free, paperless and self-declared on the official Udyam portal (udyamregistration.gov.in) using Aadhaar and PAN. Beware of unofficial websites that charge fees; the government portal charges nothing.

Is Udyam registration worth it for a Bhiwadi factory?

Yes: it unlocks the 45-day payment protection with statutory interest, collateral-free CGTMSE-backed credit, PMEGP and Mudra funding routes, procurement preferences, and most central and Rajasthan state scheme benefits, none of which apply without registration.
